Hi & Welcome 🙂

We are Christine and Don Wilhelm, a couple of almost 30 fantastic years, business partners and professional musicians. 

How did we end up facilitating community drum circles?

That's a great question.  It all began while on vacation.  We went for a sunset stroll on the beach, and heard music, drum beats and followed them. As we walked up to this wonderment happening on the beach, a stranger stood up and offered Don his drum... a djembe.  This was new.  He had never played a hand drum before.  Don sat down, and before too long was matching the grooves of the other djembe players.  Chris was thrilled to witness this.  And yes, Chris too was offered a drum and says she fell in love.  At this point in her life Chris was not a musician.  Yet, here she was sitting on a beach with a bunch of drummers playing a drum she had never heard of... having the time of her life.  When they returned from their vacation, Chris was determined to find something similar.  She was blown away by the feeling of belonging and connecting with others in rhythm.  It was so healing, soulful, and FUN. 

In her quest Chris, found Circles of Rhythm in Inglewood, which happened every Friday night.  It's certainly not as scenic as a beach at sunset, but she found a new home and a new love - community drumming. 

Eager to learn all that they could, both Chris and Don completed the facilitation training Level 1, Rhythm 2 Recovery, and Levels 1 & 2 with Circles of Rhythm. With a fire in their belly, YYC Drum Circles was born.  For the next 6 months, they earned their training wheels with COR before branching out and hosting their own circles in their neighbourhood and at Green Fools Theatre.  

At the end of 2025, the owner of COR had to step back, and our beautiful community asked YYC Drum Circles if they could help keep this drum circle running.  I think it may be one of the longest running drum circles in Canada... since 1997!!!

WE SAID YES!!!!!!!

What a wild ride it has been.  We definitely have made mistakes along the way, but mostly we have met and drummed with so many incredible human beings with huge hearts full of compassion and love. 

Since we started this little business we have hosted drum circles across Alberta.

Banff Springs Hotel : that was fancy and fun

Camp Kindle :  for families with kids fighting cancer ( it is a privilege to drum with these folks)

• Preschools : got to get on the floor to drum here
• Summer Camps
• Colleges
• Corporate Functions
• Community Centres

We simply wish to bring the joy and healing power of community drumming everywhere we can. Now, more than ever, the world needs help regulating their nervous system. No pills required, or experience drumming.  We got you!  It is our goal, by the end of the circle, you will find your own path, and join the rhythm of the group.  It is an experience unlike anything else. 

All ages welcome 5 to 105 🙂
